THINCS Ltd. is a professional medical service offering home nursing assessments of insurance claimants with either a psychiatric or subjective condition resulting in an Income/Loan protection or waiver of premium claim.

The rational for meeting a claimant in their own home is to prevent the occasional stress caused by having to travel to consulting rooms sometimes many miles away to meet with a specialist sometimes in a rather intimidating environment. Considering the range of conditions some claimants may have, the added stress of a journey can paint a false clinical picture.

The claimant will be informed of the intention to carry out a home assessment by the Insurer and we will then have a phone conversation with them to clarify the appointment time and date as well as trying to allay any worries over the purpose of the visit prior to it taking place.

About Tony Helliwell

Tony is a qualified registered psychiatric and general nurse with almost thirty years of clinical experience as well as being a fully qualified counsellor/therapist.

He has worked in many different clinical areas from general adult psychiatry, adolescent psychiatry, chemical dependency, eating disorders, post traumatic stress and the psychiatry of child birth (post natal depression and puerperal psychosis). He also has extensive experience of clinical management within an acute care setting.

Tony transferred his clinical skills to the Insurance industry in 1998 working for Unum Provident one of the largest providers of group income protection products in the world. It was whilst working within Unum that Tony set up the home nursing assessments which greatly improved the claims management and often improved the claims outcomes for both claimants and the insurer.
